The Castle Print

The most famous castle ruin of the world. Not only during the Castle Illumination there is a lot to discover. The garden, called the 8th wonder of the world during the time of it’s set up invites you for a promenade.

Heidelberg Castle is the former residence of the Counts Palatine and Electoral Princes by Rhine.

In the interior the Big Barrel waits for you, it was completed in 1751 and has a capacity of

221 726 litres. Our Hotel Perkeo gets it’s name from the former guardian of the barrel, Perkeo, who was only one meter in height but a 100 kilo weighing dwarf from Tyrol. He had to drink 15 bottels of wine daily, otherwise he would get whipped. Since his childhood, so it was said, he never drank anything else but wine. When he fell ill one day his doctor strongly recommended to stop drinking wine and urged him to drink water. One day later Perkeo was dead.

A complete must is the visit to the Museum of Old Pharmacies.
